Neo | Kid’s Smartwatch by Vodafone

Acting as the Lead Product Designer, I helped shape a kids smartwatch designed to keep families connected while empowering children to explore the digital world safely. Through calls, chat, expressive emojis, and familiar characters, the experience feels friendly and engaging without giving kids a sense of independence without sacrificing parental confidence.

Playful technology encourages discovery and movement, from a forward-facing camera that captures everyday adventures to activity tracking that motivates healthy habits. With thoughtful safeguards and clear communication tools, the watch creates a balanced first step into digital life for kids and parents alike.

Based upon user testing, a more robust weather feature was added to the watch to give kids agency to determine how to prepare for the day by checking the weather.

Responsibilities:
UX Design - Experience design of all watch systems, including messaging, calls, camera controls, interaction design and integration of of Disney characters throughout the experience, including user research, user journeys and usability testing.

UI Design - Interface design to support all watch operating system functions, chat emoji designs, in addition to photoframe stickers for the camera roll

Creative Direction of product design, production pipeline development, design documentation, 3D character models, character animations, and marketing integrations.

Video animation and CGI created by Vodafone with art direction from Linnea Motts as part of the Disney Creative Team for Games & Interactive Experiences Division.

This onboarding experience guides users through the Vodafone SIM activation process to pair the watch hardware with the user’s Vodafone account. Special attention was given to make the experience not only clear, but also magical by infusing Disney branded elements for a seamless, reliable, and delightful experience.
